About this deal

Several variations of the Flashback 8 were released in 2017, including the Gold edition, which introduces scan line filtering, a gameplay rewind feature, and HDMI output. If remembering that Atari Games was a separate corporate entity, and now different IP rights holder, it is understandable that no post-1983 "Atari" arcade games (probably their most popular) can be included (not Star Wars because, licenses). market AND jumpstart a market that presumably didn't exist, I don't know, but Atari's home Pong system was hardly the first home console, so it certainly didn't create the console market.

Seems the point of this isn't entirely about playing the games, but rather learning the history behind them. Here’s a list of every game in the Atari 50 collection, arranged by platform – including how to unlock the 5 secret games. Haunted Houses – The original “survival horror” game for the Atari 2600 gets a modern 3D voxel-based sequel, featuring more houses, more spooky situations, and more urns. PinderSchloss I don't think so that the game which single handedly crashed the US video game market and bankrupted Atari would be a cherished game.dew12333 It was all a bit fuzzy back then, with one company making the original, one porting it to another system, and the publisher taking all the credit. Games I’ve fallen in love with after a solid day with Atari 50: Ninja Golf, Turbo Sub, Scrapyard Dog Lynx, Caverns of Mars, I Robot, Tempest 2000, Akka Arrh, Yoomp! This is due to limitations in the original Atari 2600 hardware, which the Flashback 2 reproduces accurately. My favourite game on the Atari 2600 was ‘Frostbite’ (similar type game to Frogger), so most disappointing it didn’t make the cut, along with the Starwars Games.

There are some sad but likely necessary omissions from the Atari 50 collection: Atari’s masterpiece arcade game, Star Wars, and its vector sequel The Empire Strikes Back; Raiders of the Lost Ark for 2600; Alien vs Predator for the Jaguar. It is the same as the Flashback 6 with the infrared wireless joysticks, but it adds one more game - Frogger - increasing the total to 101 games. The Atari Flashback 8 Gold Deluxe also has 120 games, but includes two wired paddles in addition to two wireless joysticks. Of course all of this is already available "elsewhere", but it's good to see Atari celebrate their part in the long book of video games. Sounds like there's a much stronger connection with the defunct original firm than I had been led to believe, so I won't go repeat that false information elsewhere now that I've been set straight. The system's buttons are similar to the round, 'candy-like' buttons found on the Atari XEGS system, and not the brushed aluminum toggle switches found on the original VCS. It features brass switches instead of chrome and has the Atari 50th logo stamped onto its wood veneer trim. First off, the hacks should never have been included, especially since the original games are included as well!
